Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year!!
I am so excited to get to know your children and to start getting them back into the habit of going to school each day. For the first week the Kindergarten and Pre-K students will only be going to school until 12:00. This is to help ease them back into school gently and to give their bodies and minds a chance to catch up to all of the changes a new school year brings. This means your child will not be having lunch at school, but they will need a snack and water. It is also very important at this time to make sure your child is getting enough sleep to accommodate all of the changes happening in their life.

With each new year comes some changes and this year I think the changes will greatly benefit the Kindergarten students and the rest of the school!! This year Kindergarten will have ESL as a whole class and will have some individual pull out time. We will also have the Kindergarten and Pre-K ESL teacher as a part time classroom aide! I will be implementing a new math program, which I am really excited about. It provides me with lots of ways to assess the students, will give me a better idea as to where each individual child is, will give your child the chance to monitor their own growth in mathematics, and is a hands on, fun way for children to learn important concepts.

It is going to be a great year and I am so excited to share it with you and your child! Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. My goal is that your child loves school, greatly increases their knowledge, and builds a good foundation on which they can continue to grow intellectually, physically, and emotionally. The best way for this to happen is through collaboration between home and school. Cheers to the new year!! :)
